Good day members of 2085,
As fall sets in, employment opportunities have been with calls from out of our jurisdiction. Jobsites locally have been slow getting out of the ground or they are still at the mercy of engineering and design to be put out for tender. A manpower requirement email has been sent out to all contractors, with a few returns and call backs that say, things will pick up in the New Year. We continue to do all we can to try and employ as many members as possible.

Political Action:
As all should know, we now have a new provincial government who represents labour and Manitobans. We will work closely with our new leaders (ministers) and bring back changes to apprenticeship ratios, and the designation of powerline technician, as well as protect and represent construction workers in all trades. We have a lot to repair after the last 8 years.
Contract Negotiations:
IBEW 2085 Steering Committee has been selected and 16 members will assist in shaping our new Collective Bargaining Agreement. Our CBA expires April 31, 2024 and negotiations will begin in the 2024 New Year. Members that may not be on the steering committee are welcome to send an email stating the article you feel needs to change in our CBA. All reasonable emails will be reviewed by our steering committee. Send email to Info@ibew2085.com.

Dues:
Members please remember to fulfill your financial obligation to the hall and ensure that you are paid up on your monthly dues while you are working out of jurisdiction or unemployed. You can view your dues via Union Worx or you can call the office to request your paid through date and balance outstanding.
